Abstract：Transmission towersoftenadoptanupper single-angle member with lower built-updouble-angle member.At the single-to-doubleangletransitionjoint，thecenterofgravityoftheupperandlowermainmaterialscoincides，whichwill inevitablyleadtoecentricityoftheupperandlowershoeplates.Thereisnodesignmethodforsuchjointsinthespecification. Adesignmethodforhorizontalplatesofsingleanddoubleanglesteltransitionjointsisproposed.Thismethodtakesinto accounttheunevendistributionofverticalstressintheshoeplatesandcanbewellsuitableforthedesignofsuch joints.
