Abstract：Thispaper discusses the designandimplementationofanurbanroadsmart lightingsystem basedonGeographic InformationSystem（GIS）.Withtheacelerationofurbanizationandtheintensificationoftheenergycrisis，traditionalroad lightingsystemsarenolongerable tomeettheneedsofmodernurbandevelopment.ThisresearchdeeplyintegratesGIS technologywithsmarttechnologiessuchastheInternetofThingsandbigdata，andproposesanewurbanroadlighting managementsolution.ThroughthespatialdatamanagementandanalysisfunctionsofGIS，combinedwithsmartsensors，wireless communicationnetworksandothertechnologies，thesystemachievesprecisepositioning，conditionmonitoring，energyconsumption analysis and intelligent control of lighting facilities.
