Abstract:Thisresearchbuildsatwo-dimensionaldiscreteelementmodelofsemi-rigidbaseasphaltpavementstructure basedontwo-dimensionaldiscreteelementsoftware,andcarresoutthree-pointbendingvirtualtests.Randomplygonsandsal ballsareusedtosimulatecoarseaggegateandasphaltmortarunitsrespectivelyandsmallballsaredeletedtosimulateporosity andlayeredmodeling.Themodelrevealsthedevelopmentprocessofmicro-cracks.Whentheaxialdisplacementis1.5mmin theinitialloadingstage,thereflectivecracksdeveloprapidlyat3-4mm,andthenumberofcracksincreasesfrom2Oto900. Atthefinalfailurestage,theaxialdisplacementisgreaterthan4mm,andthetotalnumberofcracksisstableat955.This model provides a new way to study the meso-mechanical behavior of asphalt pavements.
