Lightweight PUF-based anonymous authentication protocol for multi-gateway wireless medical sensor network

Abstract:Inlightoftheprevailingchallengesencounteredinmulti-gatewaywirelessmedical sensor networks,thispaperput forwardalightweightanonymousauthenticationprotocolforsuchnetworks.Thechallngesunderdiscusioninclude,butarenot limited,ighomutialossf-oahtiiogmatits,iedoudbiliy of wireless medical sensors.The protocol employedthephysical unclonablefunction(PUF)to facilitate secureauthentication and keyagreement betweenmedical expertsviatheprimarygateway,external gatewayandwirelessmedical sensornodes. Through theutilisationofteROROraclemodel,theProverifprotocolanalysistool,andnon-formalanalysis,itdemostated thatthisprotocolachieves mutualauthenticationandsesionkeyagreementbetweenmedicalspecialistsandwirelessmedical sensors,and wasresistanttocommonatacks withgoodsecurityproperties.Acomparison with theauthenticationprotocolsproposed inrecentyears shows thatthe proposed protocol hasthelowestcomputational costsandoutperforms other protocols by more than 11.79% .Furthermore,the comparison reveals that the proposed protocol exhibits more comprehensive security attributesandgoodlightweightcharacteristics,nderingitwel-suitedforresource-constraiedwirelessmedicalsensornetworks.
