Effects of different pumpkin rootstocks on the growth, yield and fruit quality of watermelon

Abstract:Toscreenoutsuitablepumpkin rootstock varietyforgrafting watermeloncultivars intheBayannurregion,11 pumpkinrotstockcombinationsand2commercial pumpkinrootstocks(CK1,CK2)were usedasexperimentalmaterials, andthelocal watermelon variety lybaodesert1 wasusedas scion to studythe effcts of different pumpkin rootstocks on thesurvivalrateof grafted watermelonseedlings,the survivalrateof planting,thepositionoffloweringandfruit seting nodes,fruit qualityand yield,andthe principalcomponent analysismethod wasused tocomprehensivelyevaluate the aboveindicators.TheresultsshowedthatB1,B5,B8andB10hadhigh compatibilitywithscionLvbaodesert1.The fruit-setingabilityofB2,B3,B4,B5andB8was stronger thanthatof thecontrol; TheyieldofB2,B5,B8,B1OandB4 rootstockswashigher thanthatofcommercialcontrol.ExceptB8,thegraftingofotherrootstocksdidnotsignificantly change the fruit shape of watermelon.ExceptB4,the soluble solids contentat the edge Was significantlylower than that ofthecommercialcontrol,there wasnosignificantdiference between theotherrootstocksand thecontrol.Through principalcomponentanalysis,two high-quality pumpkin rootstockcombinations B2andB10were finallyselectedsuitable for graftingwatermelon in Bayannaoerarea,theyield increased 24.92% 29.20% and 12.75% , 16.61% higher than the commercial control rootstocksCK1 and CK2,respectively,and could be popularized and applied in production.
