Determination of Residual Ethoxyquinoline in Pear by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: Objective: To compare two HPLC methods for the determination of ethoxyquinoline residue in pear. Method:The samples were extracted with n-hexane under alkaline condition,dried by rotation,and determinated with acetonitrile containing ascorbic acid. High performance liquid chromatographic fluorescence detector (HPLCFLD)and high performance liquid chromatographic tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) were used for the determination. Result: Ethoxyquinoline showed a good linear relationship in the range of 2μg⋅L-1 to ,and the correlation coefficient was greater than 0.999.The limits of detection and quantification of HPLC-FLD were 10μg⋅kg-1 and 20μg⋅kg-1 , respectively. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation of HPLC-MS/MS method were 0.5μg⋅kg-1 and 1.0μg⋅kg-1 ,respectively. Conclusion: HPLC-MS/MS method has high separation efficiency and high sensitivity,and issuperior toHPLC-FLDmethod inthe determinationofcomplex substrates.Thedetectioncostof HPLC-FLD method is lower than thatof HPLC-MS/MS.Therefore,the appropriate detection method canbe selected according to the detection requirements.
