Advantages Analysis of Using Continuous Flow Analyzer for Capability Verification Determination of Permanganate Index in Water

Abstract: Objective: To verify the advantages of continuous flow analyzer in the proficiency testing of permanganate index in water and provide a reference for supplementing the national standard method of permanganate index in water. Method: The certified standard samples and proficiency testing samples were determinedbyacid potassium permanganate titrationandcontinuous flowanalyzer,and theresultsofthe two methods werecomprehensivelyanalyzed and evaluated.Result:The results of differentconcentrations of permanganate index determined by continuous flow analyzer were consistent with those of the national standard method.The |z| value of the proficiency testing sample was 0.63,and the results were satisfactory.The relative error between the sample mean and the standard value was 1.05%~ 11.11% ,the relative standard deviation was 0.54%~ 1.75% and the standard curve R2 was 0.999 7. The accuracy, precision and correlation coefficient of the standard curve met the requirements. Conclusion: Compared with the traditional national standard method acid potassium permanganate titration,the continuous flow analyzer has the advantages of lesssample consumption,less reagent consumption, less environmental polution,stable heating temperature, high degree of automation and high detection efficiency. Therefore, it is recommended to be included in the national standard method system.
