Abstract:Recycled aggegate from demolishedbuildings isan important resource,and itsreuse is of great significancefor reducing the amount ofconstruction wasteand saving resources.The existing research mainly uses laboratory-prepared recycled concrete aggregates (RCAs),which have the characteristics of short age and uniform performance.However,RCAinactual enginering is mainlyderived from demolition of building structures that have been in service for decades,and their performance characteristicsare significantly diferent from those of laboratory samples.Concrete in long-term service undergoes complex physical and chemical changes,resulting in changes in its microstructure and mechanical properties,which makes the performance of RCA,the engineering source,vary greatly.This diference ismainlyreflected inkey indicatorssuchasaggregate strength,porosity,and waterabsorption, which in turnafect the overallperformance of recycled concrete.Therefore,there maybeagap between the laboratoryresearchresultsand theactual engineering application,and itisnecessary to further carryout systematicresearch basedon the actual engineering RCA.In this paper,the adition of cementitious activator cement slurry was mainlyused to improvethe physical properties of recycled aggregatefordemolitionbuildings,soas to promote its wider application in the construction field.The results showed that soaking the recycled aggregate with a water-cement ratio of 0.4 cement slurry could effectively improve the performance of the recycled aggregate,and the compressive strength and flexural strength of the prepared concrete are improved.
