Abstract: Bezier curves are widelyused in mathematics and computer graphics.Plant roots are modeled and simulated using a3D modeling method based on Bezier curves.This method combines the mathematical principleof Bezier curve and theOpenGLtoolibrarytomodelthecomplex structureandgrowthstateof plantrootsystem.Thecontrolpointscanbeusedto designaurvethatmimicsthenaturalgrowthpateofroots.AfterestablishingtheBeziercurves,thenextstageistoimplement these curves into the 3D modeling framework based on OpenGL(Open Graphics Library), which can show the complex branchingpatesandspatialaangementofealroots.Bydjustingtheseparametesinthemodel,teeffctsofnvioental conditions changesonroot growth,branching paterns and spatial distributionareobserved.This method demonstrates the capability of Bezier curves and OpenGL in simulating root system structure,and canreproduce morphological features such astaproots,fibrous roots,andlateralrootbranches.Theabilitytomanipulatecontrolpoints withinaBeziercurve framework enables visualization of multiple rootmorphologies.Thecombination ofBezier curveandOpenGL modeling isan effective method to simulate the complex growth state of plant root system.
