Understanding Tao Through “Qing"(Sentiment) : A Study of the Confucian Concept of “Qing” in Chinese Tea Ceren

Abstract:TheConfucianmoral-philosophicalconceptof“Qing”refers toarationalemotionalprocessimbuedwithethicalityandmo ralityItmanestsasteegatioofdsiesandgenerationofotextoundemotiosinspeificsiatios,diingindiualactos andreflectingtheoralemotioaloectiosetweeidiidalsandots“Qig”sesastesensorpshlgicalfoudatifor embodyingandcomprehendingTaotroughteapractice.The“Qing”inteaceremonyisembodiedinbothpersonalemotionsandtheritualizedcontextofteadrinking.ChineseteacereonyintegatesLi(atioalprincipls)into“Qing”,whichmoderatestesymbitceatio shipsbetwenidividualsandothersintearitualsIt guidesindividualstowardtheintrospectiveself-cultivationsateof“Chengji Chng wu”(perfectingtheselfandperfectingthings)and“YuTianDiCan”(harmonizingwith HeavenandEarth),achievedthroughthefusion of“Qing”andLi.Therealizationof“Chengi”(pefectingthself),“Chengren”(pfectingothers),nd“Chengwu”(perfetingthings) underthe mutualillminationof“Qing”andLiconstutestheidealstatepursuedbyChineseteaceremony—aharmoniousunityof “Qing”,Li,and“He”(harmony).
