Preparation and Performance of Attapulgite Fluid-Modified Chitosan Composite Electrolyte Membrane

Abstract:[Purposes] To address the issues of high cost, insufficient chemical stability,and difficulty in degradation after disposal of traditional electrolyte membranes,the development of high-performance and environmentally friendly electrolyte membranes has become a current research hotspot.[Methods] In this study,environmentally friendly composite electrolyte membranes of attapulgite-like fluid(f-ATP)modified chitosan (QCS)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were prepared by a solution blending method.By regulating the content of f-ATP ( 0%~10% ), the conductivity, mechanical properties,and sweling behavior of the composite membranes were systematically investigated.[Findings] When the mass ratio of QCS/PVA was 6:4 and the content of f-ATP was 5% ,the conductivity of the composite membrane reached a maximum of 55×10 -3 (2 S⋅cm-1 at 80∘C , with a tensile strength of 63 MPa.Additionally,the water absorption and swelling rates decreased with the increase off-ATP content.The water absorption rate and sweling rate of the unmodified membrane in water at 80∘C were 198% and 116% ,respectively. All the properties have met the application standards for environmentally friendly electrolyte membranes.[Conclusions] This study explores the performance of f-ATP modified QCS/PVA composite electrolyte membranes, providing new insights for the development of high-performance and environmentally friendly electrolyte membranes.
