Abstract: [Purposes] This study aims to investigate the structural mechanical characteristics of a twoway four-lane tied-arch bridge under different vehicle speeds.[Methods]Based ona specific two-way fourlane tied-arch bridge project case,finite element models under diffrent vehicle speeds were established. The mechanical characteristics of the structure at 60km/h and the influence of different speeds on the structural response were analyzed.[Findings]The research indicates that during the vehicle loading process,the bridge deck systemand arch ribs primarily experience setlement deformation.Aspart of thedeformation of the bridge deck system is jointlyborne bythe hangers andarch ribs,this helps to mitigate the deformation of the deck system. The transverse bracing exhibits compression in the initial stage and tension in the later stage, while the hangers are primarily subjected to tensile stress throughout the entire loading process.Due to the uneven force distribution between thearch ribsand hangers onboth sides,the stress values in the sidetransverse bracing and the hangers are significantly greater than those in the central transverse bracing.At different vehicle speeds,the maximum deformation and stress of this tied-arch bridge both peak at 60km/h ,indicating that the displacement resonance effect between the vehicle speed and the bridge structure reaches its maximum at this speed.[Conclusions] Given the significant impact of the displacement resonance effct on thestructure,the vehicle speed that most critically influences the structure should be thoroughly considered during the design process to ensure structural safety and reliability.
