Case Study on the Optimization Design of Ventilation, Heat Dissipation and Anti-Fouling for Evaporative-Condensing Units in Subway Stations

Abstract: [Purposes] Although evaporative-condensing chilers are widely used in new subway lines as a solution to address the issues of space occupation,noise,and visual impact associated with cooling towers in station cold source systems,thanks to their land-saving and high-effciency advantages,their application in underground spaces is hindered by insufficient ventilation for heat dissipation and improper water quality management leading to heat exchanger fouling, which impedes long-term efficient operation. Therefore,it is necessary to optimize the ventilation and heat dissipation and anti-scaling design scheme of the evaporative condensing unit in the subway station.[Methods] Taking operational stations as the research object,this study systematically summarizes engineering practical experience.It focuses on analyzing the optimized ventilation and heat dissipation design for evaporative-condensing units in underground plant rooms and the implementation effectiveness of efficient water treatment and antifouling measures.[Findings] Through targeted ventilation optimization measures,such as improving airflow organization in confined spaces,and comprehensive water treatment technologies,including water quality management,the heat dissipation bottleneck issue in underground plant rooms was effectively resolved.The heat exchanger fouling phenomenon was significantly suppressed,ensuring the operational reliability and energy eficiency of the units.[Conclusions] The application of these measures can effectively ensure the operational reliability and energy eficiency of evaporative-condensing chillers in underground environments,providing practical experience and technical reference for similar projects.
