Stability Analysis and Remediation of aLandslide in a Residential Area ofFujian Province

Abstract: [Purposes] This study aimed to investigate the formation mechanism and stability evolution of a landslide in a residential area of Fujian Province,and to propose a comprehensive remediation plan to eliminate potential hazards.[Methods] Field engineering geological surveys and exploration were conducted to characterize the landslide's topography,geotechnical properties,and hydrogeological conditions.The simplified Bishop method was employed to calculate the safety factors under natural and heavy rainfall conditions.A remediation scheme,involving slope cuting,retaining wals,anchor rods,lattice beams,and drainage systems, was designed. Its effectiveness was subsequently validated through finite element numerical simulation.[Findings] The results show that under natural conditions,the landslide's safety factor ranged from 1.001 to 1.091,indicating a "marginall stable" state. Under heavy rainfall conditions,the safety factor decreased to between 0.924 and O.971,rendering the slope "unstable." After remediation,the safety factor increased to 1.172. The maximum horizontal and vertical displacements were controlled within 17 mm and 12 mm,respectively,demonstrating significant restraint of slope deformation.[Conclusions] The comprehensive remediation measures efectively enhanced slope stability by reducing the driving forces,increasing the resisting forces,and improving drainage conditions.This study provides a scientific reference for similar landslide remediation projects.
