Current Limiting Control Strategy for Compensation Equipment During Power Grid Faults

Abstract: [Purposes] With the continuous development of power systems,the requirements for current limiting control technology are increasingly high.To address the limitations of traditional current limiting methods in handling complex fault scenarios,a current limiting control strategy for compensation equipment during power grid faults is proposed.[Methods]First,by analyzing the main circuit topology and control principles of the Static Var Generator (SVG),a calculation method based on instantaneous fault sampling of the power grid system was designed.Second,the relationship between the system output current and the reactor terminal voltage Was analyzed. Output current limiting control was designed according to the SVG characteristics,including relevant current limiting strategies,thecoordination between current limiting and protection control,and grid characteristics under output current limiting conditions.Combined with actual field conditions,the activeand reactive power status of the system was calculated.Finally,simulations and experiments were conducted to verify its effectiveness.[Findings]The research results show that this current limitingcontrol strategy demonstrates significant effectiveness in limiting the output current of the SVG during grid-side system faults.[Conclusions] This strategy provides a new solution for the safe and stable operation of power systems and can serve as a reference for subsequent related research.
