Abstract: β -amylase(BAM)familygene iswidely present in variousplantsand playsasignificantrole inplant growth and responses to abiotic stressTo further explore the information of the BAM familymembers in pepper and analyze theirexpresionpatternsandgenefunctions,bioinformatics methods wereemployedtoconduct genome-wideidentification,gene structure,phylogeneticanalysis,and expressonpattrnanalysisofthe CaBAMgenefamilyin pepper.Theresultsindicatedthatthere were10CaBAMgenes inpepper,allofwhichwerehydrophilicproteinsanddistributedin the nucleus,cytoplasm,mitochondria,chloroplasts,and plasmamembrane.Phylogeneticanalysis dividedthe CaBAMgene familyinto6groups,andtheconservationofcatalyticresidues Glu-186and Glu-380was higherthan thatoftheflexible loop andinerloop.The promoterregions ofCaBAM genes contained multiple cis-acting elements related to stressand development.TranscriptomeandqRT-PCR analysis showed that CaBAMgeneshaddiferential expression in diferent tissues and under abiotic stres,and CaBAM4, CaBAM5,and CaBAM6 might play roles in the growthand developmentof pepper andresponses toabiotic stres.Theresearchresults provideareference forfurther in-depth studieson thefunctionof the CaBAM gene family in pepper.
