AbstractTo explore the suitable control methods for Cinara cedri on Cedrus deodara in park greenspaces of Tai'an City,Shandong Province,this study comparedthe effcacy and costof two control methods:foliar spraying and root drenching.A total of9treatments were setup for the foliar spraying method: treatmentland2 were 1 500-fold diluted solution of 25% thiamethoxam water-dispersible granules (WDG)(without/with 2Oo-fold diluted mineral oil, respectively); treatment 3 and 4 were 2 OoO-fold diluted solution of 22.4% spirotetramat suspension concentrate (SC) (without/with2OO-folddiluted mineraloil,respectively);treatment5and 6 were25OO-folddilutedsolutionof 70% acetamiprid WDG(without/with2OO-folddiluted mineraloil,respectively); treatment7and8were2500-folddiluted solution of 70% imidacloprid WDG (without/with 2OO-fold diluted mineral oil,respectively); in addition,a clear water control(CK1) wasset.For the root drenching method,3 treatments were established:treatment A was 25% (20号 thiamethoxam water-dispersible granules, treatment B was 20% dinotefuran suspension concentrate, and a clear water control (CK2)wasalsoset.The populationreductionrateandcontrol effectof diferent insecticidesandcontrolmethods on Cinara cedri were compared.The results showed that inthe spraying method,both the population reductionrates and control efficaciesof treatments 2,4,6,and8werehigher than thoseof their corresponding treatments1,3,5,and7 without theadditionof mineraloiladjuvant;comparison of treatment 3and treatment 4showed that treatment 4 exhibited a high population reduction rate (95.3%) )and control effect (95.4% )1 day after application;treatments1,5, and7showed goodcontrol efects1and7days after application,but gradually decreased 21daysafterapplication, while the control effect of treatment 3 increased and reached 90.3% 21 days after application. In the root drenching method,21 days after application,the population reduction rates of treatments A and B were 78.03% and 88.33% , respectively,with control effects reaching 88.52% and 93.89% ;1 and 7 days after application,the control effect of treatmentAwasbetterthanthatof treatmentB,but1Oand21daysafterapplication,thecontroleffectof treatment B was superior tothatof treatmentA.Costcomparisonresults showed thatthe total costof the spraying method(625 yuan) was lower than that of the root drenching method (1O67 yuan). Comprehensiveanalysis indicated that the spray applicationmethod hada limited durationof eficacy but exhibitedrelativelyrapid insecticidal eficacy.Adding a mineral oil adjuvant during application could enhance control efficacy,with the 22.4% spirotetramat SC in combination with mineraloil adjuvantachieving theoptimal controlefect; theroot drenching method hadahigher costbut caused lessenvironmental polutionand exertedalong-lasting insecticidal effct.It wassuitableforfocused pestcontrol during periods of severe pest infestation,and the 20% dinotefuran SC was recommended for use.
