Efficient hydroponic cultivation techniques for blanched garlic leaves in greenhouse facilities

AbstractThe management techniques for cultivating blanched garlic leaves in facility greenhouses,covering site selection,infrastructure construction,planting,cultivation management,harvesting,andpost-harvest handling were summarized.Theplanting site should bepolution-free,close to water sources,andaccessible by transportation. Greenhousesequipped with light-blocking,heat-insulating,and ventilation functions were constructed,typically featuringanti-seepage hydroponic tanks inside.Purple-skinnedgarlic varieties werepreferred for cultivation,with seeds undergoing soaking,dormancy breaking,and germination promotion treatments.For cultivation management, temperature(16-28℃)was strictlycontrolled ina light-free environment,adequate moisture was maintained,and specialized water-soluble fertilizers were appliedas needed.The blanched garlic leaves generall harvested when they reach a length of 0.5 meters,after which further processing-stacking,packaging,and refrigeration-takes place.The qualityandyieldofthefirstharvestarebettr,and itwas necessaryto thoroughlycleananddisinfect thepond after harvesting for the next crop.Additionall,post-harvest garlic bulbs can be repurposed for replanting,procesing into condiments,producing organic fertilizers,or serving as feed additives,thereby enhancing resource utilization efficiency andoverallplanting benefits.This study providesa reference for the sustainable development of the blanched garlic leaves industry.
