自先秦及今，“德”在中国的文化生活中具有重要地位，在《尚书·蔡仲之命》有“皇天无亲，惟德是辅"，在《诗经·大雅·烝民》有“天生烝民，有物有则，民之秉彝，好是懿德"等，这些文献表明，至少在西周早期，人们便使用了“德"的概念，将之置于社会生活中的核心，并义同现代汉语所谓“道德”。（剩余7324字）
