Errors, Influencing Factors,and Teaching Suggestions in Chinese Tone Perception of Heritage Language Learners of European and American

Abstract:ToneisanimportantfeatureofChinesephonetics,andthetoneperceptionhasasignificantimpactonlearners‘languageuderstandingandoral expresson.This studytakes 58European and American Chinese heritagelearners asresearchsample, andobtainsdataontheirtoneperceptionabilityandfactorsafectingtheirtoneperceptionabilitytroughtestingandquestioaie methods.Thepefoaceofoepreptionisatistiallaldndultiplergresioaalysisisarduttloein fluencingfactorsoftoneperceptionabilityamongChineseheritagelearners.TheresearchresultsindicatethatChinesestudentsface difcultiesinperceivingtescodandfourthonesofasinglecharacter,distinguishngbetweeefirstandfourthtonesanddistinguishingbetweenthesecondandtirdtoes.Teresultsofultipleregressionanalysisindicatetatstudentspersoaltoeawar nessandlearningeforthaveasignificantimpactontheirtoneperceptionlevel.Researchproposessuggestionsfortoneteachingfor overseas Chinese studentsin Europe and America based on survey conclusions.
