The Legal Concepts in the Painted Sculptures and Murals of :he Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes: Exploration and Contemporary Value

Abstract:Thepaintedsulpturesandmuralsofthe Dunhuang MogaoGrotoescarrythecorecharacteristicsofancientlegalconcepts throughavisualsymblicsystem.Amongthem,“simultaneousgoverancebyvirtueandlaw”reflectsthedalecticalunityoforlityand law；“diffrtiatedseforperiphralgio”dmostatestesomofulticgveace,efltingthcusieot oflocalcustosyl;“plulsticoveac”disosidtiecstouhssatiossdcouctstlgicf primary-levelutonomywiththesritofualcontract.Atthevaluelevel,theancientDunuanglegalconceptspromotethteraction betweenstatelawandfolklawtroughaculturalsymbolicsystem，supportprimary-level“soft-hardcolaborativegoveance”withultiplenorms，andprovidehistoricalinspiratioforlcallegislationandtheconsrctionofauleof-lawdisousesstemwithCsear acteristics.Toinjectuuangwisditoeuleoflaconstructiointeraitisetoleveagethfoundatioaloleoflo calresourcesineleflawonstructionespodtogioalgoveanceeedsithe“sallfastandeiblelegislatieodel, and promote the organic coupling of moral self-disciplineand institutional heteronomy in primary-level governance.
