[Abstract]ObjectiveTocomparetheefectof shape memory encircling boneplateandribexternal fixationplate inthe treatmentofbilateralmutipleribfracturesintheelderlyMethodsClinicaldataofelderlypatientswithbilateralmultipleribfracturesadmitedtoThe9O4thHospitalofJontLgisticSupprtForceofPLinO23wereselectedandretrospectivelyanalyzedAtotal of 52patientsreceivingshapememorycircularboneplatetreatmentwereincludedintheinteralfixationgroup，andther16patients receivingribexteralfixationplatetreatmenwereincludedinthextealfixationgroup.Thepostoperativeclinicalficacyofthetwo groups were analyzed. The partial pressure of arterial blood oxygen（ PaO2 ）and partial pressure of arterial blood carbon dioxide （ PaCO2 ）were measuredbeforeandaftertreatment.Meanwhile，thedurationofchestpain，thetimeof geting outofbed，thetimeof hospitaizationandtheincidenceofpostoperativecomplicationswerealsomeasured.ResultsThexcelentateoftheintealfiation group was higher than that the external fixation group（ P<0.05） . There was no statistically significant difference in blood gas analysis indicators between the two groups before treatment （ P>0.05 ）；After treatment，both groups showed statistically significant differences in PaO2 and PaCO2 compared wih before treatment （ P<0.05 ）.The PaO2 in the internal fixation group was higher than that in the external fixation group （ P<0.05 ），while the PaCO2 was lower than that in the external fixation group （ P<0.05 ） . The duration ofchestpain，mobilizationtime，andhospitalizationtimeintheintealfixationgroupwereshortertanoseinthextealfiation group （ P<0.05 ）.Theincidenceof postoperativecomplicationssuch aspulmonary infectionandatelectasis inthe internal fixation group was lower than that in the external fixation group （ P<0.05 ）.ConclusionIn the treatment of bilateral multiplerib fractures in theelderly，theshapememoryhugingboneplatecansignificantlyenhanceclinicaleficacy，moreefectivelyiprovethebloodand gasstatusofpatients，shortenthepostoperativercoveryprocess，andsimultaneouslyducetheincidenceofpostoperativecomplicationssuchaspulmonaryinfectionandatoriasis.Comparedwithextemalribfixationguardplates，ithasamoresuperiortherapeutic effect and provides a more ideal treatment option for elderly patients with such fractures.
