Abstract:To investigatethegeneticvariation inagronomic traitsof melongermplasmresources,screenhigh-quality germplasm,as wellasoferareferencebasis forgene miningand germplasm innovation,thisstudysystematicallyevaluated19mainagronomictraitsusing2cultivatedvarietisastestmaterials,ndconductedvariabilityoelationpriipal component,and clusteranalyses.Theresults showed thatthecoeficientof variation forthemajoragronomic traitsof 22 melon varieties ranged from 0.19% to 36.20% ,withthehighestvariationobservedinthenodeof the female flower 0 36.20% ,followedbythenodeof themale flower( 32.63% ).Correlationswere widely observed among the agronomic traits,withasignificantpositivecorrelationbetweenthesugarcontentofthemelonheartandthesugarcontentofthemelonflesh,andsinglefruitmassexhibitingsignificantpositivecorrelationswith fruitdiameter,fruitlength,fleshthickess, andseedcavitylength.Principalcomponentanalysiscategorizedthe19traits intoseveralcomponents,with thefirst3 principal components cumulatively explaining 60.79881% of the total variation. The first principal component included plantheight,maleand femalenodepositions,fruitlength,andseedcavitylength.Thesecond principalcomponentincludedfruit diameter,flesh thickness,andsingle fruit mass.Thethird principalcomponent included chlorophyllcontentand leaf nitrogen content.Clusteranalysis atagenetic distance of 0.Oo5 groupedthe22 materials into three groups.The first groupmainlyconsistedof medium-to-largesized,whiteskinned,netedmelonvarieties.Thesecondgroup inclued large-fruited,yow-snnedvarieties.Theirdgoupomprsedmedum-fruited,green-skinned,yellow-fleshdt melon varieties.Most of the materials within each group exhibited distinct phenotypic characteristics,demonstrating significant breeding potential.
