A Study of Tea Culture in Northeast China During the Qing Dynasty

Abstract:Teaculturestandsasaquintessntial elementof traditionalChinesecivilization,boastinga profoundhistoricalegacy. Curentacademicresearchontheregionalgeographyofteaculturepredominantlyfocusesontea-producingregions insouthemChina,constrainedbyfactorssuchasnaturalconditionsandhistoricalcontexts,whilepayinglimitedatentiontothehistoryofteaconsumptioninNortheastChina.However,istoricalrecordsrevealthattheteacultureofortheastChinaalsoposesssadoted heritage,charactedbythnicitegatioandregioaldaptabilitysevolutionotolyeflctsteuquesocialdaicfin terethnicexchangebutalsoembodiestheregion'sextensivehistoricaltransformations.Thus,athoroughexplorationof Northeast China'steacultureisimperative.Buildingupon existing scholarship,thispaper examinesthe teacultureof Northeast Chinaduring theQingDynasty.Itsystematicallanalyestraditioaltea-rlatedliteratureandfolloricmaterialsdocumentedinlocalchonicles whileincorporatingthe"utsider"prspectivesofQingraYanxingemissariestocorobratefindingsByreconstructingthegion's enduringteahistoryanditsditinctivetea-drinkingpractices,thisstudyaimstoprovidenewinsightsforfuterinvestigatiosinto the diverse cultural landscape of Northeast China and the social historyoffrontier life during the Qing Dynasty.
