Abstract：Bridgepreventivemaintenanceisa kindofactiveprotectionproject.Basedonthecurrent operationand maintenancestatusofhighwayconcretebeambridgesinJiangsuProvince，thispaperestablishesatechnical systemforpreventive maintenanceofbridges，clarfesthedefinitionandclasificationofpreventivemaintenance，formsatargetedandoperable preventivemaintenanceprocess，andproposesacomprehensivemaintenanceopportunitymethodbasedontimeandstructure/ component performance to guide the actual bridge maintenance work.
