Effects of meridian sinew therapy combined with Mawangdui Daoyin on motor function and surface electromyography in patients with post-stroke lower limb spasticity

[Abstract]Objective Toinvestigatetheeffectsof meridian sinewtherapycombinedwith Mawangdui Daoyinonmotor functionandsufaceelectromyography （sEMG）inpatientswithpost-strokelower limbspasticity.MethodsAtotalof8Ostroke patients hospitalizedintheRehabiliationDepartmentofthe WestCampusofChenzhouFirstPeople'sHospitalfromJanuary2022 to June2023wereselectedandrandomlydivided intoacontrolgroup （40cases）andanexperimental group（40cases）.Thecontrol groupreceivedconventionalrehabilitatiotherapyhilethexperimentalgroupunderwentaditionaltreatmentwithmerdiansinew therapycombinedwithMawangdui Daoyinonthebasisofconventionalrehabilitationtherapy.Bothgroups underwenttreatmentfive timesperweekforfourconsecutiveweeks.Beforetreatmentandafterfourweeksoftreatment，sEMGsignalsofrectusfemorisand gastrocnemius musclesduring pasivestretchingwererecordedinbothgroupsusingasurfaceelectromyograph，including theroot meansquare （RMS）andintegratedelectromyography（iEMG）values.Meanwhile，bothgroupswereasssedusingthemodified Ashworth scale （MAS）forthetricepssuraeandquadriceps femoris，theFugl-Meyerassssmentforlower extremity（FMA-LE），heBerg balancescale （BBS），themodifidBarthelindex（MB），andtheHoldenfunctionalmbulationcasification（FAC）.Resultsoprd with pre-treatmentvalues，bothgroups exhibiteddecreasesintheRMSandiEMGvaluesof therectus femorisandgastrocemius muscles，aswellas in the MAS grades of the triceps surae and quadriceps femoris after treatment （ P<0.05 P<0.001 1）.Moreover， these values were lower in the experimental group than in the control group （ P <0.05， P <0.001）.After treatment， both groups also showed increases in scores of FMA-LE，BBS，and MBI， and FAC grades （ P< 0.01， P<0.001 ），with the experimental group demonstrating higher values than the control group （ O.05，P
