AbstractThis study systematically explores the importance，principles，specific methods，and supporting precautions of pruning techniques for ornamental peonies.Thepruning of ornamental peonies must follow 4 core principles： balanced growth cordination，ventilationand light penetration，diseaseand pest prevention，and aesthetic shaping.Pruning is mainlycariedout in spring and autumn.In spring，it is conducted before flower bud germination， with core operations including cuting off suckers，thinning flowersand buds，and removing withered flowers.In autumn，it is implemented after leaffall，focusingonoperationssuch asstub cuting，main branch determination， selectionandretentionoffloweringbranches，andremovalof diseased，weakbranchesandabnormal buds.Basedon this，this paper proposes a coordinated pruning model consisting of the“three cuttings andone determination” in spring （cutting suckers，thinning flower buds，removing withered flowers，anddetermining main branches）and the “three removals and two cuttings”in autumn （clearing diseased and weak branches，clearing crossing branches， clearing abnormal buds，cutting unlignified shoots，and cutingredundant flowering branches）.Additionally，key supporting management pointsare clarified，including tol selectionanddisinfection，water and fertilizer management after pruning，and regular plant monitoring and maintenance.This technical system can provide technical support for thestandardized shaping of ornamental peony plant type，preciseregulation offlowering period，and sustainable cultivation management，and has important practical value for improving landscape efects and extending the peony industry chain.
