Production statusand development suggestionsof Cucurbita pepo in Sixian

AbstractBased on the current development status of the Cucurbita pepo industry in Sixian，Anhui Province，areas requiring further improvement were identified and corresponding development strategies were proposed.In research area throughstandardized planting，contract farming，and the construction of acomprehensiveindustrial chain，the cultivationscaleof Cucurbita pepo has expandedrapidly.An industrialsystem encompassng planting，processing，sales， and leisure tourism has ben established，accompanied bythe succeful breeding ofimproved varieties，thecreationof ageographical indicationbrand，andenhanced marketinfluencethroughculturalfestivals.Currntly，theindustryfaces challenges such as insuffcient demonstration bases，a shortage of high quality seedlings，relativelylow levelsof processing，weak leadingenterprises，and alack of profesional talent.Accordingly，a three-tier industrial system covering foundational，core，andextended industrieswasproposed.This includespromoting theconstructionof standardized bases，modernseed industry projects，deepprocessing，and the development of new business formats. Effortsshould be made to introduce，cultivate，and support leading enterprises，foster enterprise-academia collaboration，andadvance theformationofindustrial alliances.Additionally，measures willbetaken tostrengthentalent recruitment and cultivate anew generation profesional farmers to support high qualitydevelopmentof this industry. This study provides areference forachieving high qualityand sustainabledevelopmentoftheCucurbita pepo industry in related regions.
