Evaluation of the adaptability of ornamental grass and turfgrass varieties in Fuyang area

AbstractTo screen out ornamental grass and turfgrass varieties suitable for cultivation in Fuyang，Anhui Province， thisarticle conducts experimental onthe introduction and cultivation of 16ornamental grass varietiessuch as Juncus effusus and 36 lawn grass varieties such as Festuca elata.The adaptability of each selected variety of grass in terms of morphological characteristics，growth conditions，and resistance was evaluated.At the same time，the application scenario suggestions and application promotion strategies in the study area were summarized The results showed that in the studyarea，Festucaelata，Agrostis clavata，Medicago lupulinaandTrifoliumrepens hadstrong adaptability.Cynodon dactylon had outstanding heat and drought resistance.Panicum virgatum，Cortaderia seloana，Miscanthus sinensis ‘Zebrinus’，Arundo donax，Orychophragmus vioaceus，Iris lactea，Arundo donax‘Versicolor’，Ophiopogon bodinieri growed vigorously in summer and havea good landscape efect. Festuca glauca had strong cold and drought resistance. Inrural courtyardsandalong both sides of rural roads，choose ornamental grasses with beautiful shapes andrich colors such as Iris lactea and Cortaderia selloana，as well as turfgrass varieties thatare resistant to trampling and easy to maintain，such as Cynodon dactylon.Inrural public activity venues，plant grass species with highornamental value such as Miscanthus sinensis‘Zebrinus’，Panicum virgatum and Festuca glauca.Along the banks of ditchesand ponds， ornamental grasses such as Arundo donax and Arundo donax‘Versicolor'，which have the functions of soil stabilization andbank protection，are planted.Suggestions are putforward for the applicationand promotionofornamental grass and turfgrassin the studyarea，suchasscientificallselecting appropriate varieties basedon diffrent applicationscenarios and strengthening maintenance and management.This article provides areference for the application and promotion of different varieties of ornamental grass and turfgrass in relevant regions.
