Effects of rice strawreturningand tillage methods on wheat growth

AbstractAn experiment was conducted to explorethe effects ofrice straw returningandtilage methods on wheat growth,the wheat variety Yangmai3O was used as the material.5 treatments were designed: fullamountof rice straw returned to the field followedby deep tillage + shallow rotary tillage (T1),full amount of straw returned to the field followedbyshallowrotarytillge(T2),no-tillagewithfullamountofstrawreturned tothefield(T3),allricestrawbaled and removed from the field followed by deep tillage + shallow rotary tillage (T4),and all straw baled and removed from thefield followed byshallow rotary tillage (T5).The emergenceofwheat seedlings,ocurrence of weeds inwheat fields, theentire growth period of wheat,and yield factors under various treatments weredetermined.Theresults showed that theemergence rates of the treatments,in descending order,were T4>T5>T1>T2>T3 The total weed occurrence,in descending order, was T2>T5>T4>T1>T3 . The growth progress was generally consistent, with a full growth period of 199 days for alltreatments.In terms of yield,the yields of the treatments ranged from 6108.8 to 6 603.3kg/hm2 ,in descendingorder: T4>T1>T2>T5>T3 .Theeconomicbenefits,indescendingorder,were T3>T2>T5>T4>T1 : Overall,T3andT2 wereasociatedwithhighereconomicbenefits,whileT4achieved thehighestwheatyield.Diferent regions can select suitable straw management methods based onlocalconditions to enhance wheat yield while improving economic benefits.This article provides a reference for eficient planting of rice stubble and wheat.
