Effects of delayed harvest on growth traits and yield of summer maize

AbstractTo investigatetheeffctsofdelayed harvestingonthegrowth traitsandyieldofsummermaize，this study used Jingdan 58andLiyu35asexperimentalmaterials.2 treatments wereset：normalharvest（I）anddelayed harvest by 25days（II）.The agronomic traits （suchasearlength），yieldtraits （such as1OOo-kernel weight），yield，aswellas dry materaccumulation and distribution were measured.The resultsshowed thatdelayed harvesting had no significant effct on the agronomic traits of summer maize.Delayed harvest increased the yield by4.5%-5.1%，reduced the grain moisturecontent to5.2 to7.7percentagepoints，increasedthe grainoutput rate byO.7 to1.3 percentage points，and raised the1O00-kernel weightby2.9-9.1g.Thedry matterper plant increased by14.9-15.7g，among which thedry matter of grains per plant increased by8.2-17.3 g. Inconclusion，delayed harvesting of summer maizecan effectively reduce grainmoisture content，enhance thetranslocationofdrymatterto grains，and increase the1OOo-kernel weight， thereby achieving yield improvement.
