From Spiritual Worship to Realistic Metaphor: The Aesthetic Divide of the "Concept of Nature" in Poetry
—Taking Wordsworth and Gong Zizhen as Examples

Abstract:Thispaperaims toexplorethesimilaritiesanddiferencesofthenaturalviewsof theBritishpoetWilliam Wordsworth andtheChinesepoetGongZzhninthe8th-19thcenturies,aswellastheirsignificanceintherespectieeras troughcross-ulturalcomparsonBydoptingthetextnalysismethod,tispaperconductsanindepthinterpretationofthepoetryworksoftheo poets,andanalyzesthemfromthedimensionssuchasorevalueorientation,culturalcontext,andsocialrelations.Thestudyfinds thatbothof themusenatureasthecarierforexpressngemotionsandphilosophy.Wordsworthusesnaturetoresistthealienationof industrialcivilatiohileGongZnssaraliagstoeapoecialilsofoopcalfoudatioefo merintegratesreligiouspantheism,andthelatercombinesthTaoistcyclicideologyandtheConfucianspiritofactivelyegagngin society.However,Wordsworth'snatural viewtakes"returnandhealing"asthecore,fullof Westernromanticcolors,whileGong Zizhenpresents theorientalaestheticcharacteristicsof"contradictionandstrugle".Theresearchresultsshowthatthetwopoetsre flectonhumannatureandthetimes throughnature.Theirpoeticcreations notonlyhighlight theculturaldiferencesbetweenthEast and the West but also leave a precious spiritual heritage for future generations.
