On the Yongjia School's Thought of "Balancing Profit and Righteousness" and Its Moral Education Value

Abstract:TheConfuciandoctrineofrighteousnessand profiabilityhasdeprotsandisanimportantsourcefortheforationof thecurentvaluefghteousessandprofitability.UnliketeSouthernSongDyastyhichmphasisedrighteousnessoverrofit,te Yongiascholwastefirsttobreakthecageoftalkingaboutbenevolenceandrighteousnessandputforwardtheideaof"balancing profitandrighteousnes".ThisideawasperfectedandputintopracticebyXueJixuan,ChenFuliang,YeShiandothers,anditwas separatedfromtheCheng-Zhuschoolofreasoning.Itsmainmanifestationisthatitemphasisestheutilityofmerit,andmeasuresrig teousnessandprofitabilitybytheprinciplethat"actionisasednbenevolenceandrighteousness,utmeritissenipracticalat ters".TheYongjiascholstrips,splitsandcombinesthemultiplerelationshipsbetweenmoralityandprofit,publicandprivateterests,andfinallyivesioatiesighsialecticofralityowdgeandationndgoundself.Isvusofaing materialandspiialpursuitsitsemphasisoeforforalpractice,issenseofommunityithpublicnterestandghteous ness,nditsoraldvocacyofthkingofatisightandhatisrongproviderchisightsformoraleducationinCinanowadays.
