Analysis of ZHANG Lu's Treatment of Abnormal Taste Based on the Five Viscera Theory

Abstract:This articleanalyzes the etiology,pathogenesis, treatment principles,and characteristics of prescriptionselection and medication use in abnormal taste based on the physiological and pathological theories of the five viscera,as described in Zhang ShiYiTong(Comprehensive MedicineAcording to Master Zhang).Itsummarizes ZHANG Lu's basic ideas on treating abnormal taste.Although each ofthe five viscera is associated with a specific taste, theyare allcloselyrelated tothespleenand stomach.For example,sour taste isatributed todamp-heatintheliverand galbladder,which isalsorelated tothe dysfunctionofthespleenandstomach;biter taste isatributed to heat constraintinthegalbladder and heat inthe heart,aswell asthereversal of stomachqi;acrid taste isatributed to excesive heatin the lungs,which isalsorelated to the dysfunctionof thespleenandstomach'sascending and descending movements;salty taste is atributed to kidneydeficiencyand hyperactivityoffire,which is alsorelated to the deficiency of spleen qi.
