Study on the performance of nano-filler enhancing asphalt mixture considering microscopic morphology

Abstract:Domestic A7O# straight-run asphalt and industrial-grade multi-walled carbon nanotubes were selected as the main materials,and the nanofiller reinforced asphalt mixture specimens with mass fractions of 0.3%,0.5% , 0.7% and 1.0% were prepared,respectively,and the mechanical properties and road properties of the material specimens were studied.The results showed that theaddition of nano-filler to asphalt mixture would play an obvious rolein bridging and strengthening in the microscopic morphology of the fault area.The average indirect tensile strength of specimen No.4 with a nanofiller mass fraction of 1.0% was 1.91 MPa,the indirect tensile strength ratio was O.83 before and after freezing and thawing,and the rutting depth reached -16.1 mm after 20 000 loads. The dynamic modulus value of the specimen was the lowest in the high-frequencyenvironmentand the highest in the low-frequency condition,which proves that itsperformanceisbeter than thatofother specimensinall aspects. When the mass fraction of nanomaterials was 0.7% ,the nanofiller reinforced asphalt mixture had the best tensile properties,viscoelastic properties,low-temperature crack resistance and water damage resistance.
