Abstract:ThepopulationoftheblindindividualsinChinaislarge.However,thereisalackofefectiveandaffordable meansofguidingtheblind,soitisdificulttoensuretheirsafetywhentheytraveling.Inviewofthis,amultifunctionalguidance systembasedontheRaspberyPi4Bisdesignedfortheblind.Thesystem iscapableofobstacledetectionandrecognition, pedestriannavigationandremotepositioning,andvoicebroadcasting.Itintegratesultrasonicsensorsandcameras,utilizinga visual objectdetectionalgorithmbasedon YOLOv8forobstacledetectionandrecognition.TheGPS modulefacilitates pedestrian navigatinandremoteposioning,alowingfamilymemberstoquerytheblindindividual'slocationinrealtime,therebyensuring theirtravelsafety.Aditionall,llgudanceinstructionsareprovidedbyvoiceroadcastingtoasisttheblind,ehacingthe systemusability.Thetestresultsdemonstratethattheproposedsystemcandetectobstacleswithin fourmetersandrecognize fifteenkindsofcommonobstacleswithhighdetectionprecisionandrecognitionaccuracy.Thesystemalsoshowsreliablepath planning and positioning capabilities.To sum up,the proposed systemcan meet the safety requirements for guidance.
