Research on the activity of Tachypleus tridentatus in the coastal waters of Guangxi based on observation reports from fishing boats*

Abstract：The coastal waters of Guangxi are one of the main habitats of the Tachypleus tridentatus in the Beibu Gulf. This study divided the coastal waters of Guangxi into three survey areas：nearshore bottom layer，nearshore mid upper layer，and nearshore seabed layer. Through 12 small and mediumsized fishing boats，the activity of Tachypleus tridentatus was observed and investigated，and relevant data was summarized and statistically analyzed on a monthly basis. From January to December 2023，a total of 786 Tachypleus tridentatus were observed during 873 days of fishing operations in the coastal waters of Guangxi. Statistics show that the period from January to March is the time when the population of Tachypleus tridentatus in the coastal waters of Guangxi is the highest，and their main habitat is in the bottom water layer. The surrounding waters of Xieyang Island， Pearl Bay，the southern part of Yintan，and the area between Yingpan and Hepu Shatian in Beihai are densely populated with Tachypleus tridentatus.
