Study on application effectiveness of recirculating aquaculture system

Abstract:To investigate the application effectiveness of a Recirculating Aquaculture System(RAS) in aquaculture practices,a breeding experiment was conducted using Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia(GIFT,Oreochromis niloticus)as the subject.“Zhongwei No.1”GIFT tilapia fry were selected and reared in two separate ponds:a control pond and an experimental pond. The control pond utilized a traditional aquaculture model,while the experimental pond employed an RAS一based aquaculture model.The results demonstrated that the harvest size of GIFT tilapia in the experimental pond was significantly larger than that in the control pond ( P<0. 05 ),and the aquaculture efficiency was also significantly higher ( P<0, 05 ). Key growth performance indicators,including final body weight (FBW),specific growth rate (SGR),condition factor (CF),hepatosomatic index (HSI),and viscerOsomatic index (VSI),were allsignificantly greater in the experimental pond compared to the control pond ( P<0.05 .The concentrations of NH4+-N , NO2--N ,and COD in the outlet water of the observation pond showed no significant diffrernce compared to those in the control pond ( P>0. 05) , while the removal rates were significantly higher than those in the control pond ( P<0. 05 ).These findings indicate that the RAS can significantly enhance the growth performance of GIFT tilapia,increase market size,reduce mortality rates, improve water quality by purifying aquaculture effluent, and ultimately elevate the economic benefits of GIFT tilapia farming.
