Abstract：With theconcurrent developmentof traditional Chinesemedicine（TCM）and metabolomicsinthediagnosisand treatmentof iverfailure，techniquessuchasnuclear magneticresonance，massspectrometry，chromatography，metabolic flux analysis，andbioinformaticsenablethequalitativeorquantitativeanalysisofndogenoussmallmoleculemetabolitesinanimal modelsof liverfailureandpatientswithliverfailure.These methods helpidentifyspecificbiomarkersforearlydiagnosisand clinicalintervention.Thisarticlereviewsrecentdvancementsinmetabolomicsforthearlydiagnosisofliverfailure，biomarker discovery，identificationofTCMsyndromes，andtheapplicationofTCMintreatingliverfailure，aimingtoprovideabasisforCMbased diagnosis and treatment of liver failure.
