Influence of Interpersonal Communication on Loneliness among Rural Empty-nest Elderly People： the Masking Effect and Moderating Effect of Negative Coping Strategies

Abstract：Objective：toexplore teinfluenceofinterpersoalcommunicationonlonelinessamongruralemptynestelderlypeopleand themechanismofcoping styleintherelation，soas toprovidereferencesforthereductionofloneliness.Methods：thesampleswere about 418ruralempty-nestelderlypeoplefromBijie，Guizhouprovince，whocompletedabateryofsurvey includingself-designed interpersonal communication questionnaire， simple coping style questionnaire and loneliness scale. Results： 92.1% of rural empty-nest elderlypeople hdamoderate oraboveloneliessCorelationanalysis showedthat interpersoalcommunicationandpositivecoping were negatively correlated with loneliness （r=-0.25，-0.51 ，respectively， P<0.01 ），and negative coping was positively correlated with loneliness （r=0.15，P<0.01） .Negative coping has a masking and moderating efect between interpersonal communication and loneliness.Conclusion： uralempty-nestelderlypeoplefromGuizhou provinceshowaprominent problemofloneliness.Thelonelinesslevel canbereducedbyicreasing tenumberofinterpersonalcommuication，avoiding negativecopingstylesandadoptingpositiveoing styles.
