Essentials of National Famous TCM Physician YUAN Changjin's clinical experience in treating chronic liver disease

[Abstract]To summarize thecore clinical experiseof National Famous TCM Physician YUAN Changinin treating chronic liverdisease.ProfessorYUAidentiesinvasionypathogenictoxinsastheintatingcauseoftedisasedyfuctionofthliver yangandimpairednourishmentoftheliverbodyasthecorepathogenesis，andhealthyqideficiencyastheterminaloutcome. Basedonthisunderstanding，hehasrefiedtheaore modelofdiseaseprogresionas"toxicimpairmentof thelivercolaterals， disharmoybetweentheliverspropertyandfunction，anddeficiencyofhealthyqi"Acordingly，thefundamentaltreatment principlesareharmonizing yinandyangunblockingstagnationsandresolving pathologicalaccumulations，andreinforcinghealthy qitoeliminatepathogenicfactors.Inclinicalpractice，ProfesorYUANemploysstage-basedtreatment：intheactivestage，the focus isonclearingtheliverandremoving toxins，clearingheatanddrainingdampnes，forwhichhehas developedtheformula QingganJianpiJieduDecoction;intheprogressvestage，thestrategyshiftstosothingtheliverandtransformingstasis， strengtheningthesplen，andreducingturbidity，forwhichhehastailoredShugan Jianzhong JiangzhiFormula;intheteminal stage，treatmentemphasizesreinforcinghealthyqi，forwhichheskilfullyusedChinesemedicines withsweeflavorandneutral propertysuchas Taizishen （PseudostelariaeRadix）andHuangqi （AstragaliRadix）toconsolidatethebodysfundamentalvitality. ProfesorYUANparticularlyemphasiesthdeconstructionofmedicinalpairsinclasscformulas.Hispresriptionpatensrefleta distinctacademiccharacteristcof"sothingtheliverwithoutconsumingqilearingheatwithoutinjuringyinandtonifigdeficiency without retaining pathogenic factors，" resulting in significant clinical efficacy.
