Validation and Comparative Exploration of Continuous Flow Analysis and Flow Injection Analysis for the Determination of SulfidesinWater

Abstract: [Purposes] This study systematicaly validated the key analytical performance differences betweenContinuous Flow Analysis (CFA)and Flow Injection Analysis (FIA)for thedetection of sulfides in surface water,with parameters such as sensitivity,accuracy,andanti-interference capabilityquantified, so as to provide an empirical basis for water quality laboratories to select appropriate methods according to practical needs.[Methods] Experiments were conducted in accordance with standard methods SL/T 788.3-2019 and HJ 824-2017, using a CFA system (SKALAR SAN++5000) and an FIA system (Baode BDFIA-86OO). Method validation and real water sample testing were carried out based on parameters including linear range,detection limit,precision,and spike recovery.[Findings] The results showed that both methods demonstrated excellent linearity ( R2⩾0.999 ) within the range of O~2.0 mg/L. The detection limit of CFA was 0.016mg/L ,while thatofFIA reached 0.000 6mg/L . The spike recovery of CFA was 90%~ 111% , and that of FIA was 95%~103% . The analysis eficiency of CFA was 6O samples/h,and that of FIA was 45 samples/h.[Conclusions] Both methods are suitable for surface water monitoring.Among them,FIA is more applicable for trace-level sulfide detection,while CFA shows greater advantages in high-throughput routine monitoring.
