Exploring of the Green Recycling Pathways of Waste Polymer Materials in Road Construction

Abstract: [Purposes] To address the environmental pollution caused by waste polymer materials,their green resource utilization is proposed as a novel material for road construction,aiming to reduce construction costs and enhance road performance.[Methods] Based on the author's experimental and research findings,as well as a review of relevant domestic and international literature,a comprehensive summary and analysis were conducted.[Findings] Waste polymer materials mainly include various types such as waste plastics,rubber,and fibers,which exhibit significant diffrences in properties.Targeted pre-treatment and modification are required to enhance their suitability in road construction.Currently, they are widely used in subgrade reinforcement,optimization of cement concrete pavements,and modification of asphalt mixtures,showing notable efects and promising application prospects.However, challenges such as the lack of standards,environmental risks,and economic efficiency issues persist.Further technological innovation and deeper integration of industry-academia research are needed to promote the broader application of waste polymer materials in road construction.[Conclusions] The green resource utilization of waste polymer materials in subgrade treatment,asphalt mixtures,and cement concrete pavements can improve the quality and durability of road engineering,mitigate environmental pollution,and achieve cost savingsand efficiency enhancements.
