Study on Defects of Grease Injection Holes in Gas Production Tree Valves Based on Ultrasonic Full Matrix Imaging Method

Abstract: [Purposes] Gas production trees in sulfur-containing natural gas stations are long-term exposed to harsh sulfur environments and complex operating conditions. The structure of grease injection holes in the valves is complex,making defect detection challenging.Therefore,this study employs the Total Focusing Method (TFM) based on ultrasonic full matrix imaging to detect internal defects in the grease injection holes of gas production trees.[Methods] By developing and optimizing the detection surface and scanning methods for the grease injection holes of gas production tree valves,an experimental study was conducted using the contact method to inspect defects in the grease injection holes.Defect samples were wire-cut to calculate and analyze detection accuracy.[Findings] The results show that the error between this detection method and the actual damage in the field is less than 2% , demonstrating good detection performance.[Conclusions] A detection scheme for grease injection holes of gas production tree valves in sulfur-containing stations was developed and implemented in the field.The established detection process provides certain guidance for research on ultrasonic online testing technology for similar gas production tree valves in sulfur-containing stations,as wellas for the maintenance and repair of gas production tree valves.
