Field Efficacy of Five Biological Pesticides Against Bemisia tabaci in Greenhouse Vegetables

Abstract: To identify efective biological pesticides for managing Bemisia tabaci in greenhouse vegetables and to reduce the pest’sresistance to conventional chemical agents,a field trial was conductedusing five biological pesticides and a commonly used chemical pesticide, 5% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate(EC),on greenhouse-grown peppers. The results showed that 0.3% azadirachtin EC demonstrated the highest control efficacy at 60.86% on the third day after application,followed by the 0.1% veratrum rhizome extract soluble agent,which achieved 55.19% effcacy. By the fifth day,the efficacy of azadirachtin EC declined to 55.32% , and that of the veratrum extract decreased to 50.21% . On the seventh day,the control efficacy of azadirachtin EC remained relatively stable at approximately 51% ,while all other biological agents fell below 50% in effectiveness. These results suggest that,during the early stages of B .tabaci infestation and under conditions of low pest density, 0.3% azadirachtin EC can be recommended as the primary control agent,with 0.1% veratrum rhizome extract using as an alternative in rotation strategies.
