Effects of Foliar Application of ALA on Fertilizer Utilization Efficiency and Fruit Quality in Tomato

Abstract: A randomized block experiment was conducted under protected cultivation conditions using the tomato cultivar‘Fruit Water’to evaluate the effects of foliar application of 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA)on fertilizerutilization eficiencyand fruit quality.Five treatments were established:fullapplication of nitrogen (N),phosphorus (P),and potassium (K) as the control (CK); fullNPK plus foliar ALA;N omission; P omission;and Komission. Compared with CK,the treatment with fullNPK combined with foliar ALA significantly increased plant height and stem diameter by10.45cmand O.69 mm,respectively. Single fruit weight,yield per plot,and yield per 667 m2 also increased significantly,by 6.25 g , 7.16kg ,and 286.4kg , respectively,representing a 4.67% yield improvement.The utilization efficiencies of N, ΔP ,and K fertilizers were enhanced by 14.1% , 4.7% ,and 21.1% ,respectively.In addition,compared to CK,the contents of soluble sugars,lycopene,and vitamin C in the fruit increased by 0.93% , 11.8% ,and 1.6% ,respectively,while the organic acid content decreased by 0.04% .These findings indicate that foliar application of ALA can effectively enhance fertilizerutilization,increase yield,and improve fruit quality in tomato cultivation.
