Introduction to WANG Jiankang's Experience in Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Tophi Based on Theory of "Overeating of Fat Meat and Fine Grain Causing Abscesses"

Abstract：Thisarticle presents Professor WANG Jiankang's clinical experience in syndrome diferentiation and treatmentoftophi using theclassical theoryof"Gao Liang Zhi Bian，Zu ShengDaDing（overeating offatmeatand fine grain causing abscesses）". Professor WANG interprets " Zu " as the foot and "Da Ding" as tophi，termed "Ding Stones". Chronic consumptionof greasyfoods damages the spleenand stomach，and afects the triple energizer.Through meridian and collteral transmision，waterandfluid retentionaswellasphlegm-dampaccumulationinarticularcartilage， bursae，helix，tendon sheaths，periarticular tissues，subcutaneous layers，and renal interstitium，forming tophi. Pathogenesis involves lung-spleen deficiency with damp-turbiditystagnating in the triple energizer andthelung and the spleen，and permeating muscles，bones and tendons，and membranes.Treatment employs the modified selfformulated Shengjiang Xiezhuo Decoction to resolve stone-like phlegm aggregations in collaterals.
