Clinical Study on Acupuncture Combined with Swallowing Rehabilitation Training for Dysphagia After Ischemic Stroke

Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with swallwing rehabilitation training on dysphagiaafter ischemic stroke.Methods:Atotal of9O cases of patients with dysphagia after ischemic stroke who were hospitalized inthe DepartmentofRehabilitation Medicineof theFirstAfiliated Hospitalof Zhengzhou University from Januaryto December 2O24 were selected and divided intothe acupuncture groupand thecontrol group accordingto therandom number table method，with 45 cases ineach group.Both groups received basic post-stroke treatmentand rehabilitationcare；thecontrol group wasadditionally treated with swallowing rehabilitationtraining，and the acupuncture group was additionaly treated with acupuncture based on the treatmentof thecontrol group.Both groups were treated for four weeks.The Dysphagia Outcomeand Severity Scale （DOSS）scores，nutritional indicators [body mass index （BMI），arm muscle circumference （AMC），albumin（Alb），prealbumin （PA），hemoglobin（Hb)], cognitive function [Mini-Mental State Examination（MMSE）scores]，mental status [Hamilton Depression Scale （HAMD）and Hamilton Anxiety Scale（HAMA）scores]，activities of daily living[Modified Barthel Index（MBI) scores]，andqualityof life[Eating Disorders QualityofLife Scale（EDQOL）scores]inthe two groups were compared before and after treatment.Results:After treatment，the scores of DOSS，MMSE，and MBIin the two groups were increased when compared with thosebefore treatment，and the scores in the acupuncture group were higher than those in the control group，differences being significant ( P0.05 ). Conclusion:Acupuncture combined withswallowing rehabilitation trainingforpatientswithdysphagia after ischemicstrokecanenhance their swallowing and cognitive functions，improve their nutritionaland mental status，and significantly improve their activities of daily living and quality of life，with high safety.
