Introduction of XU Zhiqiang's Experience in Treating Proximal Humerus Fracture

Abstract：This paper is to introduce Professor XU Zhiqiang'sclinical experience in treating proximal humerus fracture.He believes thatfor patients with proximal humerus fractures and suitable fornon-surgical treatmentshould be given manual reductionand external fixation of smallsplints，whichcanachieve good functional recovery after early functional exercisecombined with internaland externaltreatment．In clinical practice，itshould firstly evaluate the anatomical structureof thefractureand its degreeofdisplacementand clasification.For thosesuitablefornon-surgical treatment，thefracture should bereducedbyfourteen bone-seting manipulationand externalfixationofsmallsplints. It is emphasized thatthe manualreductionshould be taken afterunderstanding its purpose．Allmanualreduction should firstidentifythedisplacementandangulationoflocalfractureendby“identificationbytouch”method，andshould be supplemented bytherapeutic manipulation for tendon injurybefore．With focusonrehabilitation treatment offracture， it should follow the principles of Chinese medicine orthopedics“combination of staticand dynamic treatment， emphasizing both tendons and bones，internal andexternal treatment，anddoctor-patientcooperation”.After manual reductionand smallsplint fixation，theChinese herbal medicine treatment is mainlyto promote qi movementand activate blood，supplemented by boosting thespleenand nourishing essence，and atachesimportance to syndrome diferentiationand treatmentfromthree stagesofqiand blood．Atthesame time，itis treated according to syndromecombined with Professor CHEN Weiliang's theory of latent blood stasis.
