Effect of Qijiao Moxibustion Combined with Abdominal Point Massage on Gastrointest tinal Function Recovery After Lumbar Fusion Surgery

Abstract:Objective：To observe the effect of Qijiao moxibustion combined with abdominal point massage on the recovery of gastrointestinal function afterlumbar fusionsurgery.Methods:A total of 6Ocasesof patients withlumbar degenerative disease who underwent lumbar fusion surgery at Department of Spine，Guangdong Provincial Hospital of ChineseMedicine fromJanuary to May 2O23 were included inthe study.Postoperatively，they were divided into the control group(30 cases）andthe observation group（30 cases）basedon the random number table method．Both groups received routinecare；thecontrol group was aditionaly treated with abdominal point massage，and the observation group was additionally treated with Qijiao moxibustion based onthe treatment of the control group.Both groups were treated for seven days.The incidence of postoperative nausea，vomiting，abdominal distension，and abdominal pain, as well as the time to first anal exhaust，first defecation，andrecoveryof bowel sounds，andthe incidenceof complications were compared between the two groups．Results：Compared to the control group，the observation group had a lower incidence of postoperative nausea and abdominal distension，with significant diffrences ( P0.05 )．The observation group had shorter times to first anal exhaust and recovery of bowel sounds compared to the control group，with significant differences ( P0.05 ）．At 6 and 24 hours postoperatively，the observation group had more active bowel sounds compared to the control group，with significant differences ( P0.05 ）．The incidence of postoperative complications was 3.33% （1/30）in the observation group and 6.67% （2/30）in the control group，with no significant difference between the two groups ( P>0.05 ）.Conclusion：Qijiao moxibustion combined with abdominal point massage can efectively improvegastrointestinal dysfunction inpatients afterlumbar fusion surgery，shortening the recovery time of gastrointestinal function.
